I come from a musical family, and had my first formal piano lesson at the age of four. I began to study the clarinet as an elementary student, and played it as my primary instrument throughout high school and college. I hold a Double Bachelor of Music Education (having completed both vocal and instrumental course requirements) and a Minor in History from Oakland University and a Masters of Science in Education specializing in Integrating Technology in the Classroom from Walden University.
I have worked in Anchor Bay since 2001. Previously I worked for Rochester Schools, Oxford Schools, Brandon Schools, Avondale Schools, and Walton Charter Academy in Pontiac.
I also performed professionally with the Pontiac Oakland Symphony (including concerts with Aretha Franklin and Victor Borge).
Besides teaching Anchor Bay students at three of our wonderful elementary schools, I serve as a Seesaw Ambassador training teachers on the use of the app in their classrooms. I am also an active participant with Michigan Arts Education Instruction and Assessment (MAEIA). I have field tested many of the state wide common assessments now available to elementary music teachers in our state through the MAEIA web site. I am currently working with a MAEIA team to create a Collaborative Scoring System for fine arts teachers in Michigan, and with another MAEIA team on creating Best Practices for administrators and fine arts teachers during the teacher evaluation process.
